The objective of this project is to propose an open and sensitive reflection on the implications of contemporary relationships, recognizing it as a delicate topic. The study sought to map and observe academic discussions on ways of existing and confrontations in current relationships, based on contributions from Social Psychology and the Person-Centered Approach. To this end, a qualitative literature review was conducted. Searches were carried out in the SciELO, PePsic, and Google Scholar databases, using the descriptors “Psychology and emotional relationships” and “Psychology and affective relationships,” with a time frame from 2019 to 2025 and excluding non-scientific publications. The final selection resulted in the analysis of 26 articles. The analysis identified four central themes: the ambivalent influence of digital technologies; the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as a catalyst for pre-existing tensions; the construction of affections throughout the life cycle, from the primordial bond in childhood to old age; and the interrelationship between affectivity and psychological distress, analyzing dynamics such as jealousy and emotional dependence. It can be concluded that emotional bonds are complex phenomena, influenced by social factors, acting simultaneously as a source of suffering and resistance. In this context, psychology offers fundamental tools for reframing and building more authentic relationships. The lack of primary data is pointed out as a limitation, suggesting future research with an empirical approach.
