This article aims to understand the discussions concerning art, Psychology, and
Psychoanalysis, and how, through art, the subject expresses aspects of the self and works
through anxieties or issues that were not elaborated during childhood, taking into account the
subjectivity of each individual’s process. In order to achieve more robust results, it was
necessary to divide the theme into thematic groups, considering art and its relationship with
Psychology, while further deepening the discussion through a psychoanalytic perspective on
the artistic field, also highlighting its contribution to mental health in Brazil. The research
was based on 25 articles and employed a bibliographic review method, adopting a qualitative
research approach. Based on the material analyzed, it can be concluded that art functions as a
therapeutic instrument and may serve as a facilitating means for poorly elaborated issues,
which find in artistic pathways the possibility for expression and resignification. It is
precisely through this relationship that the influence and relevance of this practice for the
individual’s mental health become evident, as individuals benefit from the effects of the
artistic field on their psychological well-being.
